HC Ambrì-Piotta – Genève Servette HC 1-0 (OT)
Our game summary, the key player, video highlights and game statistics.
Ambrì-Piotta eraned a 1-0 overtime home win against Genève Servette, it’s a footballing final score, and once again proved to be a real mature side. A side capable of winning also when the performances aren’t brillant and this is a godsend and a huge difference compared to the past.
By the way… it’s quite rare that a hockey game finishes 1-0. Yet, Ambrì-Piotta had already earned a 1-0 home win against Genève Servette. It happened back on October 30th, 2010. On that day at the Valascia, Martin Kariya scored the game winning goal at the last gasp in the 59th minute of play.
But let’s get back to last night. The game between Leventinesi and Eagles was not very spectacular. But perhaps, considering the importance of the points at stake especially for McSorley’s troops, it was unthinkable to expect otherwise. The fact is that both teams could have won this one. And then, Luca Cereda’s guys deserve big credit because they were able to put the only puck in the net thanks to Dominik Kubalik only 17 seconds into the overtime period.
It was some sort of freeing goal for the hosts… and it was a painful one to concede for the visitors. Visitors that probably, overall, even had better clear scoring opportunities… even though it’s safe to say that the game was balanced.
And so, together with Dominik Kubalik, also Benjamin Conz and Robert Mayer deserve a special mention. The two goalies were excellent… the Biancoblù’s one though, was able to earn a shutout and this made a world of difference.
Benjamin Conz (HC Ambrì-Piotta)
Robert Mayer and Benjamin Conz were both great. Ambrì-Piotta won though, therefore the “player” is Benjamin.
