EHC Biel-Bienne – SC Bern 2-4
Our game summary, the key player, video highlights and game statistics.
Bern earned a 4-2 away win in Bienne at the end of a very entertaining and high-level game!
The Mutzen got off to a brillant start and took the lead thanks to Gaëtan Haas after only 3 minutes and 31 seconds of play. The former Seeländer’s goal was a confidence booster for the visitors who performed very well during the first period. Not for nothing in the 16th minute of play, and after they proved excellent penalty killers twice, they extend their lead thanks to Andrew Ebbett’s goal scored during their first power-play opportunity of the night.
Bienne for their part have not underperformed. Actually they put some real character on display and as the game went on, a game that overall was quite balanced, were able firstly to score their first goal of the night with Jarno Kärki shortly after the half-an-hour mark and then to equalize with Toni Rajala at 9 minutes to the end! At that point, people thought that the Seeländers could seriously go and get the three points…
And instead Bern, who also put an impressive character together with a great power-play on display, went to win the game in the last 5 minutes of play! Thomas Ruefenacht restored the Mutzen lead during a 5 vs 4 situation in the 55th minute of play and finally Mark Arcobello scored empty net and set the 2-4 final score!
The final score was the right reward for Bern’s good performance. Even though the hosts can have something to say about a couple of controversial decisions of the refs…
