Bern and Fribourg Gottéron face each other at the PostFinance Arena. This game is very, but very, important especially for Mark French’s troops.

The Mutzen lost their last home game 2-3 after overtime against Langnau but at the PostFinance Arena are real steamrollers. They won 15 games out of 20 and in 9 cases they haven’t conceded a single goal to their opponents. The Dragons instead are coming off the two crucial wins earned against Genève Servette and Davos and are desperately need points for the playoffs. But…

But it’s hard out there in the Swiss Capital city for Fribourg Gottéron. Suffice it to say that the Dragons won only 1 of their last 11 games played on the road against the Mutzen… and suffice it to think that the Dragons’ last win at the PostFinance Arena goes back to over 3 years ago!

The last time happened back on February 5th, 2016…

On that day, the team back then coached by Gerd Zenhäusers earned a 4-0 away win. Julien Sprunger – two goals – Greg Mauldin and Benny Plüss gave Gottéron the win while Benjamin Conz earned a well-deserved shutout.

Both Bern and Fribourg Gottéron were involved in the playoffs battle that season and both teams made it in the end. The Dragons finished the Regular Season 6th placed. The Mutzen made the playoffs at the last gasp… finished the Regular Season 8th placed but then went all the way to win the title!

Tonight the situation is not quite the same.

Bern are currently the league leaders and even though aren’t green yet on the “TXT” they’re certain to finish the Regular Season first or second placed.

Fribourg Gottéron instead are 8th placed and must fight tooth and nail from now on to make it to the post-season. They must start to do it tonight, in an arena where they normally struggle to be successful. In an arena were they haven’t won in over 3 years.

How will this game end? We’ll have the answers at about 10pm…

Good luck, Bern and Fribourg Gottéron!
