Our game summary, the key player, video highlights and game statistics.

Lugano earned a 3-2 home win against Fribourg Gottéron at the end of a quite strange game…

Why strange?! Well… part one: the Bianconeri got off to a good start of the game and were very determined… but then, the Dragons scored the first goal of the night with Julien Sprunger after 9 minutes and 25 seconds. The Dragons’ Top Scorer’s goal woke Mark French’s troops up and the latter delivered a decent performance during the second part of the first period and then…

Part two: and then delivered an excellent and solid performance during the central period! Then, however, in the 37th minute of play… Alessio Bertaggia equalized for Lugano and the game changed.

The third period was quite balanced. Lugano, encouraged by Bertaggia’s goal, started well and took the lead thanks to Gregory Hofmann after 2 minutes and 53 seconds. Then Julien “on fire” Sprunger equalized during a power-play situation for Gottéron in the 46th minute of play.

At that point, the “touch of the champion” was required to change things and declare a winner… in this case, the champion was Linus Klasen. The latter, set up brillantly Julien Vauclair who scored the game winning goal at 9 minutes to the end!

Alessio Bertaggia (HC Lugano)

After 37 minutes of play we had impression that if there was a player of Lugano who deserved to score a goal… well, it was Alessio Bertaggia! A very good performance in terms of dedication to the cause and energy!

Then again… having said that, also Julien Sprunger deserves a mention. He was on fire!
