FC Luzern – FC St. Gallen 2-1 – Match Report Day 18

FC Luzern – FC St. Gallen 2-1

Our match report, the key player, video highlights and match statistics.

Luzern earned a 2-1 win against St. Gallen… therefore, René Weiler’s troops earned a first home win since early September and at the same time made clear once again that they’re St. Gallen’s worst nightmare!

The match got off to a lively start… only 6 minutes after kick off in fact, Ruben Vargas scored the opener for Luzern. St. Gallen darn struggled to react… and actually, after only 20 minutes of play the hosts were 2 goals ahead thanks (again) to Ruben Vargas!

This latter goal, allowed Luzern to play a pretty defensive football made of counterattacks. The match became then a little bit boring…

As it is often the case though, St. Gallen grew during the second half during which they performed not that bad… all their ball possession, however, ended mostly in itself. Not for nothing, the visitors scored only once – with Dereck Kutesa in the 59th minute – and the impression was that they didn’t have that “little extra something” in order to equalize.

Luzern therefore handled the situation very well and earned a crucial home win!
