Let’s have a look in this article at the 10 letters Super League’s teams could send to Santa… the teams are listed in table position order.
BSC YOUNG BOYS
Dear Santa, underneath the Christmas tree I want… an enemy… or rather, an opponent!
Young Boys are a steamroller and the fans are enjoying it! The team is the strongest of the Super League by far and it deserves all the success. However, frankly speaking, we think that also Young Boys do not like so much the fact that this season it’s over already before the winter break. We mean, give these guys an opponent!
Dear Santa, underneath the Christmas tree I want… the Swiss Cup!
Basel are trying to get back on top of Swiss football but it can be a very long-winded process. In fact, regardless of all the problems, there is a winning mindset to rebuild. The only way to do it, is by winning something. The Super League is over in this regard… but the Swiss Cup can be an achievable target. It would be a godsend to win it!
Dear Santa, underneath the Christmas tree I want… to keep it up!
Thun are having a sensational season but, paradoxically, they remain at risk of relegation… suffice it to think that the current 9th placed Grasshopper are only 10 points behind. We mean, it’s forbidden to let your guard down! Thun are doing great things and in our opinion can even fight for a European spot until the end… by they must keep it up!
Dear Santa, underneath the Christmas tree I want… to figure out what I want to be when I grow up!
Zürich are having a season made of ups and downs. Several performances have been outstanding while others have been terrible. We mean, Magnin’s troops are capable of everything and its opposite from week to week. Zürich have all it takes to play a leading role in the Super League… but they must realize it. In other words, Zürich need to figure out what they want to be when they grow up!
FC ST. GALLEN
Dear Santa, underneath the Christmas tree I want… just a little bit of consistency, please!
St. Gallen have all it takes to play a leading role this season. The performances have often been excellent… but never in full. Rarely in fact, Peter Zeidler’s troops have been able to perform at the same level over-the-arc of the 90 minutes, and this has cost a lot of points. We mean, they just need a little bit of consistency. That’s it!
Dear Santa, underneath the Christmas tree I want… a better home record!
Luzern have been earning 22 points so far… 15 of which away from home. At the Swissporarena in fact, René Weiler’s troops earned only 7 points in 7 games and their last home win goes back to early September when they won 2-1 against Grasshopper. We mean, it’s almost like the “home advantage” is a disadvantage. The next home match is scheduled for December 16 against St. Gallen… will Luzern be able to open an early present?
Dear Santa, underneath the Christmas tree I want… a striker!
Sion are growing and are 4-games unbeaten… but they don’t have a striker capable of making the difference. Suffice it to say that Pajtim Kasami (a midfielder) is currently the team’s Top Scorer with 5 goals while the most prolific striker is Moussa Djitté who scored 3 goals in 13 games. We mean, a merciless striker able to put that darn ball in the net is needed!
Dear Santa, underneath the Christmas tree I want… Lady Luck!
Recently, Lugano have been delivering some decent performances. The truth is, however, that their last win goes back to late October when they earned a 2-1 home win against Thun. At times the Bianconeri threw away great chances… other times instead, they’ve been unlucky… We’re pretty sure that hard work will improve the accuracy and determination. Then again, Lady Luck may also show up sometimes.
GRASSHOPPER CLUB ZÜRICH
Dear Santa, underneath the Christmas tree I want… a soul!
Grasshopper are darn struggling and are currently 9th placed. It’s not an accident… Actually, it’s almost surprising that the Hoppers are not at the bottom of the table! The team in fact, with all due respect, seems soulless. Coach Thorsten Fink is trying to work it out… but most of the time the performances are poor to say the least.
NEUCHÂTEL XAMAX FCS
Dear Santa, underneath the Christmas tree I want… to forget about draws!
Neuchâtel Xamax are very much alive! Oftentimes, their performances are good and surely they’ve proved capable of fighting for survival until the end. The newly-promoted side lost only 3 of the last 10 games… but the problem is that it won only once and drew 6 times! We mean, dear “draw”… don’t let me see you again! Neuchâtel Xamax last win goes back to late September against Lugano… it’s time for this darn “win” to show up. In fact, it’s a pity that Xamax are unable to turn the good performances into wins.
