Our match report, the key player, video highlights and match statistics.
St. Gallen earned a 3-2 home win against Neuchâtel Xamax!
The match played in St. Gallen was somehow entertaining. Peter Zeidler’s troops put some good and some bad things on display… the only thing that did matter this time, however, were the three points. Therefore, we can safely say that the mission was accomplished. And it wasn’t really easy…
Neuchâtel Xamax in fact, delivered a very generous performance but for the umpteenth time were not rewarded for their efforts. Such performances, however, make clear that this team is very much alive and seriously has a chance to survive.
Michel Decastel’s troops courage paid off immediately… more precisely, it paid off after 11 minutes, when Charles-André Doudin scored the opener. St. Gallen, however, deserve big credit because they didn’t collape.
Actually, starting from the 11th minute and until the 69th minute, the hosts delivered a decent performance that led to the 3 goals scored by Vincent Sierro, Jordi Quintillà and again Vincent Sierro! At that point though, maybe for the lack of courage or maybe because of tiredness, St. Gallen started to struggle.
Neuchâtel Xamax for their part, who were already delivering a decent performance, seized the moment and scored a second goal with Kemal Ademi in the 77th minute of play! The visitors goodwill didn’t lead to an equalizer though… therefore, St. Gallen could celebrate 3 crucial points.
Jordi Quintillà (FC St. Gallen)
Jordi Quintillà in our opinion was the man of the match. He was liveley throughout the 90 minutes of play and even scored St. Gallen’s second goal of the night.
